What is the procedure for domesticating a foreign (out of state) judgment in Texas? We would need what is called an “exemplified” copy of the judgment.
An exemplified copy is a copy of an official judgment, which is obtained from the County Clerk or the Judgment Clerk where the particular judgment was obtained. The court clerk will certify in writing, affixing three corporate seals or some form of raised stamps on the document, that the particular document as was properly signed and entered.
Exemplified copies are more than certified copies -- the clerk certifies that the copies are genuine and the judge certifies that the clerk has the authority to say they are genuine.
Exemplified copies of the foreign (out of state) judgment should be mailed to Texas Turnover Receivers.

If you have an existing judgment issued from a state other than Texas and the debtor(s) now live in Texas, we will first domesticate your judgment in a Texas court that is agreeable to approving turnover orders and agreeable to appointing one of our recommended Receivers.
NOTE: IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE THE DEBTOR LIVES IN TEXAS. WE WILL DOMESTICATE THE JUDGMENT IN A TEXAS COURT THAT IS AGREEABLE TO APPROVING TURNOVER ORDERS.
If you have an existing Texas judgment and want to have our recommended Receiver appointed, please email us a copy of the existing judgment. We will review the options to determine the best course of action in order to obtain a turnover order and court-appointed Receiver in a Texas court that is agreeable to approving turnover orders and agreeable to appointing one of our recommended Receivers.
It starts with sending Texas Turnover Receivers a copy of the existing judgment. We need to determine the likelihood of the court approving our Turnover Order and appointing one of our recommended Receivers.
We'll also need the names of all of the individuals and companies, as well as addresses, phone numbers. If there is a credit application, please submit that to us as well. In other words, any supporting documentation that helps in the identification of the debtors.
This information is also used to determine where the assets of the debtor are located, so we can make sure that an Abstract of Judgment is filed in all of the counties in which the debtor owns property.
Information should be emailed to Texas Turnover Receivers.
We will need the names and addresses of the debtors, your file number (if applicable), the name of your organization, the name of the creditor (if different), and the amount owed, as well as the name, phone number and email address of the person you want the debtor to contact as a result of receiving the demand letter.
Information can be emailed to Texas Turnover Receivers, and payment for this service must be made in advance by check or credit card.
